Moooi
I visited their recent exhibition, part of Fuorisalone in Milan, during Design Week, which was immense. They took over a huge space on via Savona presenting works old and new.
Incorporating classic designs from Wanders himself, as well as many other designers whose unifying factor being a tendency towards the unexpected, there were paper birds, upturned sofas, life size horses with lampshades on their heads to name but a few.
Set amongst the dramatic backdrop of photographer Rebecca Bathory's enormous 'Rebellious Harmony' wall coverings, the Moooi exhibit was by far one of the most dramatic and engaging I experienced during Design Week.
Particularly stunning were Umut Yamac's Perch Lights which were birds made from folded synthetic paper with brass beaks, the ombre fringed Amami sofa by Lorenza Bozzoli and Paul Cocksedge's marble and foam Compression sofa.
The Moooi brand ethos is to make an environment 'more beautiful, exciting and inspiring' so they may well be exactly what you are looking for to inject something a little bit special into your next design project.
